Sales & Business Development Manager

Full Time  |  Oamaru, Otago

About us:

We’re McBrimar, a family-owned construction company based in Oamaru. We deliver fixed-price home & land packages and bespoke design builds across Otago — and with our own land developments, reserved for McBrimar customers, we create opportunities from the ground up.

We complete around 30 homes annually and have built our reputation on:

  • Craftsmanship (we’re Registered Master Builders)

  • Transparency

  • Strong client relationships. Providing seamless customer journey, from first meeting to key handover

  • Delivering on time and on budget

  • Providing the “Full Service”, taking care of everything from subdivision to landscaping.

At McBrimar, we don’t just build homes — we build trust. And when challenges come up, our clients know one thing: we’ve got this.

About you:

You’re a proven sales operator who knows how to connect with people and close deals without the hard sell. You can talk plans, budgets, and backyards in plain english — giving clients peace of mind through every step.

To thrive with us, you’ll:

  • Have a track record in sales, preferably in residential building or construction sales

  • Be strong on negotiation, relationship-building, and presenting

  • Ideally be able to understand architectural/plan specs and translate them clearly for clients, or at a minimum have a passion for home building/renovations

  • Be confident with sales/CRM tools and pipeline reporting

  • Have commercial acumen (margins, pricing, cost impacts)

  • Be self-motivated, target-driven, and client-first in your approach

  • Hold a valid driver’s licence and be willing to travel to sites

About the role:

This isn’t about pushing cookie-cutter houses. It’s about helping clients realise their dreams — while keeping the process smooth and stress-free.

As Sales & Business Development Manager, you’ll:

  • Manage all inbound/outbound leads and drive them through the sales funnel

  • Act as primary contact from first enquiry to contract signing and handover

  • Present and promote home & land packages and design-build options

  • Maintain pipeline health, conversion metrics, and reporting

  • Collaborate with architecture, estimating, marketing, and operations

  • Ensure smooth contract handovers to the project team

  • Be an ambassador for McBrimar in the region — building networks with realtors, land developers, and referral partners

Why work with us?

At McBrimar, you’ll get more than just a sales gig. You’ll get:

  • Competitive salary with earning potential $150-200k, (including base salary + vehicle + commission) with tiered uplifts for above-target performance

  • Clear commission schedule (paid after projects commence)

  • Additional bonuses for stretch targets and referrals

  • Enjoy quality leads from our own developments — around 20 new sections each year, exclusively for McBrimar customers

  • A chance to be part of a respected local brand with strong growth plans

  • A family-run company culture — straightforward, down-to-earth, and committed to doing things right

  • To live in Oamaru – a stunning coastal town surrounded by mountains and lakes, where you can enjoy an incredible lifestyle alongside a welcoming community

  • Relocation assistance available for out-of-town candidates to ensure a smooth transition.

How to apply:

We don’t just want a CV. We want to see how you think and sell.

 Your task:

  • Pick one of our existing McBrimar home designs

  • Record a 2–3 minute video pitching it back to us as if we were a young family.

  • Show us how you’d highlight the benefits, calm their concerns, and make it real for them.

Send your CV + video to kristina@mcbrimar.co.nz
